I am a full time NHS (National Health Service) GP (General Practitioner) in the South of England. I’ve been working as a GP for years and I know that sometimes it can be difficult to physically come to the surgery to see your doctor. I also know that it can often be difficult to get an appointment at a time that’s convenient for you. And I know that it isn’t always necessary for your GP to physically examine you, as lots of problems can be diagnosed and dealt with via a good two way conversation and some visual cues.

Hence, I thought that it’s about time that patients could access an experienced family doctor from the comfort of their own home or office using a webcam.

My medical training was undertaken in the UK and I was fortunate enough to have trained at Cambridge University, for my first three years, and then I moved, to complete my studies at Royal Free and University College Medical School, London. I was also lucky enough to spend my medical school elective at the clinic of an eminent Sports Injury Surgeon based in Colorado, USA.

Following medical school, I spent several years working at various hospitals around London so that I could gain as wide a range of experiences as possible. I have had hospital experience and training in a variety of specialities including: Accident and Emergency, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, General Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics (Children’s care), Dermatology (skin), Genitourinary Medicine (I worked in a sexual health clinic) and, Psychiatry.

Since gaining that wide range of hospital doctor experience, I have been working full time as a GP in the South of England. I am a GP with skills and knowledge in a wide range of areas.

3) At the time of your appointment, ensure your computer is on and your webcam and microphone are working.

4) We will email you a link to the page where you can access your online appointment – you won’t need to download any special software. You just need an internet browser (such as the one you’re using now to view this page), and a webcam.

5) You will then have a private consultation with Dr David Zemmel – you will be able to see him and he will be able to see you, and you will both be able to hear each other.

6) If you’d rather he didn’t see you then there is an option to turn off the video part of the webcam.

7) If he is unable to help you because he feels he needs to physically examine you then we are happy to offer you a full refund.

Q Will the consultation be confidential?
A Yes of course. All consultations are treated in exactly the same way as a face to face consultation.

 

Q What happens if you’re unable to help?
A I will be able to help with hundreds of different problems, but there will be some which will require a physical examination. In these cases I will advice you to see a doctor face to face and then issue a full refund.
